The main floor is perfect for date night. We visited in the middle of the day on a weekend, and it felt cozy. I'm sure their patio is stellar in the summer. We tried multiple items, family style, and enjoyed each and every one of them! We started with a bao from Ann's Noodle Shop (only available between certain hours). It was sweet and savory. The noodle soup was bright and aromatic. The peanut noodles were packed with flavor and texture. Not pictured: Seasoned Fried Beef - a great little protein boost. The beef jeow added a unique acidic/umami flavor. We enjoyed it so much, we even ordered a red curry to go! It was sweet and spicy, and reheated well.

At last I've seen the trifecta of Gai Noi, Lat 14 and Khaluna! Gai Noi definitely lived up to the hype I've seen and heard from friends of the three restaurants, Gai Noi had the most natural light and "accesible" food options for those that aren't very familiar with the cuisine. The crispy tofu and basil wings were incredible as usual, the service was friendly and helpful, and the ambiance was welcoming and inviting. We sat upstairs where seating is communal style, and we loved it! My faves were the Laab Gai and the garlic beef. Very flavorful and made me smile with every bite. They also had the best rendition of an Arnold Palmer that I've ever had! Definitely try the ginger palmer if you want something refreshing and beautiful. We didn't have to park but I'm not sure how we would have if we needed to - it didn't seem to have much of a parking lot. Also they don't take reservations so make sure to allow time to wait in case it's busy!

Gai Noi was a beautiful and Insta-worthy location for our girls night birthday outing! I recommend the Basil Wings and the Passionfruit Punch cocktail. The Basil Wings were served crispy with a salty and flavorful spice rub. I would skip the desserts next time (or just order another plate of Basil Wings!). Pay attention to the ** on the menu as many of their dishes are quite spicy. One of my friends ordered the Gai Basil, but couldn't eat it as it was too spicy for her. Our server mentioned that the Gai Basil is the spiciest item on the menu, but my friend missed the warning. The restaurant is lavishly adorned with greenery and gorgeous and luxurious Asian inspired decor. They don't accept reservations and it was packed on a sunny Monday night. We waited outside with nice views of downtown Minneapolis, the Basilica and Loring Park while we waited for our group as they will not seat you until your entire group is ready. We had hoped to be seated upstairs on the patio or the beautifully lit area with luscious greenery, but we were offered a cute private room downstairs that perfectly fit all 11 of us. Our service was excellent; our server gave great advice about the menu and graciously answered our group's many questions about ingredients and spice levels of each dish. He also offered to take our group photos - bonus points. Our bill already included an 18% gratuity and there was not an option to add more, so I wished I brought some cash to add to his tip. Parking is difficult in this area. I would suggest getting dropped off here, or parking under the highway near the Basilica and walking 3 minutes to the restaurant. This parking lot is currently free on the weekends and only $3 per day during the week.

I've been wanting to try this place for over a year and we finally made our way over here on a beautiful summer night. We arrived around 8:00 and didn't wait more than about 20 minutes for a table of four. We sat upstairs in their open air area next to the patio. It is a gorgeous area with tons of natural light, beautiful wood and greenery. We tried the Seasoned Fried Beef, Lao Sausage and Sticky Rice with the Tomato and Eggplant Jeows. The Fried Beef was absolutely amazing, it was cooked and seasoned perfectly and the sauce it came with was tasty but not necessary as the meat absolutely stood on its own. The sausage was also tasty but I'd probably try something else instead of ordering it again. Everything is SPICY! It's great tasty spice, but definitely expect real spice here, not Minnesota spicy. This is a great place to go and share food and enjoy a beautiful summer night. I see why this place is so highly rated.

Decided to take a girlfriend here for her birthday. We walked in and had to wait, but they have a small waiting area by the bar where you can order cocktails. We were sat upstairs at a community table. It was dark and cold out, but the ambience inside was like a warm greenhouse. Dimly lit, of course. Overall, I'm happy to see an elevated Laotian restaurant pop up in Minneapolis! Our party ordered a lot of food and we thought it was going to be a lot more expensive than it was. We ordered several rounds of cocktails and everyone got at least one dish. Of all the food we ate, the most memorable was the delicious Green Curry Noodles. In general everything was prepared perfectly with well thought out flavors and textures. We found some paid street parking in front, but parking can be limited.
